Dark brown sits in the sweet spot between black's formality and cognac's casualness. This belt reads business-ready at a meeting, then works just as well tucked through jeans on a Friday. The 1¼" width keeps proportions sharp across trouser styles, and the automatic buckle locks without holes — just slide and click.

Wear This If

If you need one belt that handles everything — dark brown crocodile goes from boardroom to dinner to weekend without looking out of place. The automatic buckle adjusts to micro-increments, so it sits right whether you're standing in a meeting or sitting at a table.

If you match belts to shoes — dark brown is the shade that pairs with the widest range of men's footwear. Oxfords, monks, loafers, boots. All work without overthinking.

If you prefer a buckle without holes — the ratchet mechanism lets you fine-tune the fit by millimeters. No holes to stretch, no choosing between too tight and too loose. Slide in, click, done.

Living With It

Heads up: The automatic buckle mechanism adds about an inch of bulk at the front where the ratchet sits. Under a jacket or sweater, you won't notice. But with just a tucked shirt, the buckle profile is slightly different from a traditional prong buckle — a bit thicker at the clasp.

What's Inside

🐊 Leather Genuine crocodile leather — natural scale pattern with depth and texture that synthetic materials can't replicate.
🎨 Color Dark brown — warm, rich tone that pairs equally with black, tan, and burgundy shoes.
📏 Width 1¼" — dress-appropriate width that works across suit trousers, chinos, and jeans.
🔧 Buckle Silver automatic lock — ratchet mechanism adjusts by millimeters, no holes needed. Buckle measures 2⅛" × 1½".
✂️ Construction Handcrafted — each belt cut and assembled individually.
📐 Sizes Size 40 (waist 28"–38"), 41 (waist 29"–39"), 42 (waist 30"–40").

Good Questions

Q: How does the automatic buckle adjust?

It's a ratchet mechanism. Feed the belt through the buckle and it locks in small increments — no traditional holes. Press the release lever underneath to unlock and adjust. The fit is more precise than a standard 5-hole prong belt.

Q: Which size should I pick?

Measure the waist of the trousers you'll wear it with — not your body waist. Size 40 covers 28"–38", size 41 covers 29"–39", and size 42 covers 30"–40". The automatic buckle then adjusts anywhere within that range in small increments, so you land an exact fit rather than the nearest hole.

Q: Is this dark brown or chocolate brown?

It's a rich, warm dark brown — not as deep as chocolate and not as red as mahogany. In most lighting, it reads as a classic dark brown that pairs easily with both warm and cool-toned outfits, from tan oxfords to black dress boots.

You Might Also Want

Want something lighter for weekends? The Cognac Crocodile Belt trades this dark brown for a warmer golden tan and comes with a removable buckle.

For a formal black option with the same slide-and-click closure, the Black Crocodile Hornback Belt swaps smooth scales for raised hornback texture.

Prefer a deeper, red-leaning brown? The Burgundy Crocodile Belt stands out more than a standard brown while staying just as versatile.

Insightful and off-putting
Format: Paperback
My husband and I are planning on walking the last 62 miles of the Camino. We are not going to be "real" pilgrims so I wanted to read books that would help me understand the experience. John Pearson did a good job of taking the reader along on his pilgrimage. But as a female who remembers how distasteful it was for old men to notice her, I couldn't understand the purpose of the descriptions of the physical appearance of the women he met. For readers wanting a taste of the journey, what did it add to include the description of a tattoo on the edge of a woman's breast and how many men were looking at it. So much of the book was thoughtful and deep and then all of a sudden there was a description of a woman as an object. Men looking at women is not news so it felt odd that the author added that detail throughout the book. If you are not bothered by the author's need to share his observation of women and how much wine he drank, it is an otherwise worthy telling of one man's epic journey on the Camino.

fascinating Memoir of Walking the Camino de Santiago
Format: Kindle
I very much enjoyed reading this memoir. I’m in my mid-70s and have been considering it. Wish I had known about it when I was younger. Pearson described lots of the nitty-gritty details of the challenges and triumphs of the Camino.

The best on the subject since LDD3
Format: Paperback
I found this book as impacting me as LDD (by Rubini etc) has been in its days, a de-facto standard established to the point that people keep searching for LDD4/LDD5 to these days, that much desirable. Since LDD3 the last update on 2.6, this book (as well as kernel debugging and hands-on systems programming) is a valuable source of information for modern kernels 5 and 6 for a few years to come. Knowledgeable and easy to follow, captivating attention to keep on reading it through, impressive for a technical book. LDD4+ has now found reincarnated, thank you very much for all the effort composing it!

Compelling, informative, and accurate
Format: Kindle
I really could not be happier with the pace and level of detail this book provides. I am a very surface-level Linux user and I wanted to dive in head first. I often find that when I learn about something that I consider really hard or intimidating in tech, I get better at day-to-day use of the tools and my confidence grows. This book is a real confidence-booster if you crave the knowledge of how things work under the hood.
