During the bike boom era of the 70s/80s, many road bike brands were “mom and pop” family businesses. There were many more, much smaller brands around, compared to today's cycling landscape which is dominated by fewer but significantly larger companies. At that time it was also very common for bicycle retailers, to make and sell their own products. Giovanni an example of this and is the own brand of Sportshop Slikker which was founded in 1976 by Piet and Ria Slikker.
