Important:

The ALPHA™ tent is designed to open to the passenger side ONLY

The Alpha Shell is made of ABS material which will react (expand/contract) with the heat and cold temperatures. It is perfectly normal to notice changes in the roof or the spacing between the shell and the floor.

If you have experienced any large temperature changes in your area, this is most likely the case and is not a cause for alarm. It has no impact on the tent's performance.

Instructions

Mounting Tent

  • Mounting your tent requires a minimum of 2 people for lifting.
  • Your tent will ONLY OPEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. Position the tent on top of the vehicle's roof rack, bed rack, or trailer and center to your liking.
  • Using the supplied hardware and mounting plates, slide the hardware into the channel so there are 2 bolts per corner (one in front and one behind the vehicle's crossbars).
  • Run the bolts through the mounting brackets holes, thread nuts onto each bolt.
  • Confirm you are happy with the position of the tent, vehicle balance, and appearance then tighten all nuts to the brackets until the tent cannot move.
  • Undo the buckles on the side of the tent, push up on the handle to actuate the hydraulic rams to open the tent hard shell, Pull out on the telescoping ladder until it is fully extended- pull down on ladder until the folding side of the tent has opened and extended fully.
  • Reposition the ladder to your desired height/angle.
  • Install the supplied tension rods on the overhang of the tent & windows, open the door, and enjoy!

Required Maintenance

The Clear coat on our Alpha shells is a clear layer of paint sprayed on the ABS shell to protect it from UV rays, rocks, and dirt kicked up from the road. The clear coat will wear off with time and can also be chipped off by salt, road debris, and nature. You can protect your clear coat by regular washing and waxing.

Tips to protect your clear coat

Keep out of the sun as much as possible
Over time, the powerful UV rays in direct sunlight can wear down the clear coat.
Hot sunlight can also open small “pores” in your clear coat, allowing more dirt and debris to get in. So, to protect the clear coat and lengthen its lifespan, park in a garage or in the shade whenever possible.

Clear off bird and bug droppings immediately
Bird droppings are highly acidic. If they’re left on the clear coat, they can erode and destroy the layer of clear coat. If you spot any bird or bug droppings, rinse them off immediately with water from a hose.

Protect your clear coat from salty air
Salt will corrode the clear coat. So, if you live in a salty coastal climate, keep in mind that you will need to wash off/rinse your shell the same as you would a surfboard. Salty air and spray are some of the biggest nemeses of clear coating.

Avoid getting tree sap on your vehicle
For most, the risk of getting tree sap on your car is much lower than the risk of encountering bird droppings or salty air. However, tree sap is a double threat: the sap can soak into your clear coat and damage it directly, or it can attract dust and dirt and force these materials into your clear coat.

Hand wash and apply wax regularly
Washing will remove dust and dirt that stick to the clear coat over the course of driving. Dirt will quickly wear down your clear coat, so removing the dirt frequently will protect the clear coat and lengthen its lifespan.

Many automotive companies sell special clear-coat protection products that seal and protect your clear coat. To apply the product, simply rub it into the clear coat with a microfiber cloth. Follow the directions printed on the bottle and apply the clear-coat protection roughly as often as you wash your vehicle. You can purchase clear-coat protection products at any large automotive supply store or online.

 

Cracked Shell (Life Happens)

Repair
  • Clean area with soap, water, and plastic cleaner.
  • Grind damaged area, then repair with a PlastiFix® Rigid Plastic Repair Kit or similar product.
  • Prime.
  • Paint.
PlastiFix® is an optimal repair method. Weld repairs may be backed with epoxy for extra strength.
Clean Surface
In order to maximize the strength of any repair, thoroughly clean contaminants from the surface in the damaged area.
  • Clean both sides with soap and water. Dry with a clean cloth or compressed air.
  • Spray Plastic Cleaner onto the surface and wipe off while wet with a clean, lint-free cloth. Wipe in one direction to avoid spreading contaminants back over the clean area.
Align Damage and Deformation

If the plastic is distorted, heat with a heat gun and reshape the distorted area. When heating plastic, it is important that the plastic be heated all the way through. Hold the heat gun on the area until the opposite side of the plastic is uncomfortable to the touch.

Once heated, force the plastic back into position with a small roller or other appropriate tool, then cool the area with a damp cloth. Stretched areas can be shrunk with the shell cold. Keep working until smooth, then sand overall with 80 grit to help identify remaining low spots. Push out remaining low spots and repeat the process.

If the damaged area is cut or torn to the edge, align the cosmetic surface with Aluminum Body Tape and begin the repair process on the back. By aligning the outer surface, you minimize the amount of filler required to restore the proper profile to the part.

How do I keep my rooftop tent shell looking nice?

Not unlike a Brazilian model, keep it clean and waxed. Just like anything that you want to keep nice you need to maintain it. This means washing and waxing on a semi-regular basis. Sticks and stones, bird dookie, bug splatter, salty air, bad jokes, etc. will all work to etch and ruin your sweet, beautiful Alpha shell. 

Can I run my vehicle and tent through a car wash?

Not unless you're filming something for Instagram and don't care if your tent gets ripped from the vehicle like a category 5 hurricane.

Similar to, "The Princess and the Pea" I too require a memory foam mattress. Why don't you sell one with your tents?

Have you ever fallen into a memory foam bed when it's cold? If so, then you know why we do not offer memory foam mattresses. Cold weather and memory foam are not friends. Not only does memory foam "freeze" up in the cold but it holds moisture and its little friend mold. RTT's have enough issues with condensation. You do not want to add a hard, wet, moldy sponge to the mix.

Shipping / Delivery

Rooftop Tents ship via LTL Truck Freight and will ship separately from any other items in your cart.
Please allow 2-3 business days for your Tent to be palletized and picked up by the freight company.  You will receive a tracking confirmation as soon as your shipment is picked up from the warehouse.

Freight/Delivery times are 7-10 business days from our warehouse to the Destination Terminal.
Final Delivery is by Appointment, please provide the best phone number on your order to avoid any missed calls which will delay your delivery.  Please note that the available delivery days will vary based on the distance from the Destination Terminal and the Final Delivery address (your shipping address), if you are in a rural or remote area, the carrier may only service your area once a week. 

Do NOT miss your delivery once scheduled or you will be charged for rescheduling. We get charged and will pass the charge on to you.  

For residential deliveries: The courier will only deliver to the sidewalk, driveway, or garage. A valid telephone number must be provided at the time of purchase. This needs to be a number that you can be reached at in order for the delivery driver to schedule a delivery time. Failure to provide a valid telephone number will result in your tent not being shipped until we can make contact with you.
If you cannot arrange to be available or fail to respond to the carrier, your tent will be returned to our warehouse and the return freight charges will be applied to your credit card.

Receiving and Inspection. You have a 15-minute window to inspect your shipment before signing and accepting the delivery.  Please take pictures of the shipment before your sign and accept delivery.
If your tent is Not received Strapped on a Pallet, REFUSE the shipment, and call us immediately at 866-220-0171, we will process a replacement shipment at once.
If there are any holes in the box, look in the hole to inspect if there is any damage to the tent.  If there is any Visible Damage to the Tent, REFUSE the shipment and call us immediately at 866-220-0171, we will process a replacement shipment at once.
Note any Damage (crushed corners, scuff marks, tears) to the box on the BOL Before Signing for your delivery.

Lastly, please open and inspect the tent As Soon As Possible.  If any damage is found once you open the packaging, stop, and take pictures. Make sure to take pictures of the packaging, the tent, anything that will provide context for the damage. Concealed damage and missing parts must be reported within 72 hours of delivery. After 72 hours we are not able to file a claim with the carrier and our options to repair or replace your tent will be limited.

Robo vacuum gets the job done
This is our first robot vacuum so I don't have anything to compare it to other than what friends have said about theirs. I got this on sale for around $150. Definitely worth the price in my opinion, our floors are cleaner now! This is the Q5Pro (Q5ULE) model. This one has the features of vacuum, mop, map(with split and merge options), zones, spot clean, joystick/remote controls, no go zones, and scheduling. Wifi setup took a couple tries. But I think that shouldn't be a problem for a lot of people. It worked fine after I turned off the VPN on my router so something was being blocked there. It was easy to follow the quick start instructions that came in the box and the directions were accurate. The app (I have android) is pretty simple and easy to use. I put it on my kid's phone also so they can use it as needed. Used the same login as my own and it logged me out on my phone, but once I logged back in was able to have it logged in on two devices with no issues. It will ping you when a scheduled task is completed and if it was able to complete it or ran into issues. The history feature is nice as you can see a track of where it went. It shows yellow icon in the history if there was an issue like couldn't reach a room or something else. I told it to spot clean but it wasn't cleaning well, so I turned it over and found a twist tie in the rollers. Got that out and it did fine after that. There is a page in the app that tracks how long till expected maintenance for the the rollers, brushes, and sensors. We have two dogs and two people with long hair so we'll have to use a seam ripper regularly to get hair off the roller ends to keep that from accumulating. It's easy to get things out of the rollers, and put them back in. You can't put them in wrong as the black and red have different shapes on the ends. The rectangle roller cover is slightly difficult to put back on, you have to hold the spring clips open so it goes back on. Suction seems to be powerful and there are different suction settings in the app as well. It doesn't always get everything but love that it vacuums better than the job the humans were doing most of the time. Mainly has missed some larger lightweight crumbs that got flung by the arm brush and didn't get everything by the edge of the area rug on the 1 pass setting. We had party confetti of the foil variety and it got some of that up but didn't get all of it. The charging dock is just too tall (3 7/8 inches) to go under our sofa so we'll have to figure out a good place to 'hide' the dock. The vacuum itself is about 3 1/2 inches tall in including the round port that sticks up on top. (The round port is for suction I believe, it's not sensors) It finds the dock fine, hasn't gotten lost even when moved during cleaning. Charging is good and the app lets you sent peak/off peak charging times so it will keep it alive during the day but fully charge at night when power costs less. Overall seems like a great vacuum. It already (less than a weekof ownership) has scuffs on the outside from rubbing on things but I have kids and they constantly move chairs, etc so it has to relearn things all the time. It is impressive in that it will lightly bump/brush but even in joystick mode it won't let you ram into things, it slows itself down before it touches anything. I haven't tried out the mopping pad yet, it comes with a pad, water tank, and a plastic floor protector to put under the dock to keep damp off the floor until you take the mop pad off. I'm not thinking it will be super impressive as it's just going to drag a wet cloth around but I may be wrong. Will update when I've tested. Time will tell how sturdy and robust it is but it seems to be good so far! Edit to update: it's fine with the mopping but not a true mop, it's dragging wet and leaves wet streaks, better than nothing. We may use it some but with the steam mop I know it will actually get it clean. I moved the dock more than 3 inches and had to remap because it threw it off. Once before I moved the dock just a smidge but more than 3 inches is too much. If the battery gets below 20% it will return to the dock to charge, then will go finish at some point. I didn't find out what % of charge triggered the return to work. Had it for over 3 months now and use it daily. It does good overall, happy with our purchase.

Not a great mop, but it is a great vacuum.

The Roborock Q7 L5 has been a great addition to the cleaning arsenal of my home. I have a 1200sqft one story home with tile and laminate flooring, and it has essentially removed my need to vacuum every day, or even every week, and I have 6 cats. I have had it set to vacuum every night in the common areas of my home, and it is quiet enough that it does not disturb my husband and I when we are sleeping. I only have to empty it out once or twice a week. You MUST make sure your common areas are cleaned up of debris on the floor, and to set no-go zones where you cannot clean up clutter on the floor. It WILL eat cords, shoestrings, animal toys, etc. It WILL get stuck under things, which are where no-go zones come into play. It struggles with cleaning up litter, so I still have to sweep the floor around my cats litter boxes. However, it picks up the cat hair fairly well. It also crosses thresholds VERY well, and will vacuum my area rugs and shower mats that are not affixed to the floor with tape without sucking them up like a normal vacuum does. Some complaints I do have with this model... - It CANNOT be integrated into Home Assistant at this time, which was one of the things I was excited about. Something about a new firmware they started using that is not compatible with the integration starting around this model type. Unfortunate, but whatever. - The mopping function leaves more to be desired. If you put water in the unit, it WILL leak, even if you don't have the mop mount installed or are mopping, so sometimes you end up with little water drips on the floor. I also find that it does not do a very good job at mopping at all, even with wetting the cloth first, but for tile and laminate flooring, dry mopping is fine, so I have been leaving the mop mount installed without mopping to pick up dirt and dust that the vacuum part misses. - The filter was installed incorrectly from factory, and it took me a few weeks to realize that. I have no idea how much dust got sucked up into the motor, so definitely check that when you first get it. - The mop cloth is poorly sewn. It maybe lasted two uses before it started falling apart. Fortunately, I sew, so it can be easily fixed, but I would have hoped that these would have been a little more high quality. - Expect to buy more replacement parts. Especially mop cloths. You will need multiple mop cloths if you are using the roborock to mop with. Overall though, most of my complaints are with the mopping function of this machine. Since I don't mop very often anyway, due to damaged laminate flooring, it works fine for me. Not having to vacuum the entire house every day, or sweeping the kitchen manually every time after I cook is a huge time saver. If you need a robot vacuum, and not a mop, I feel like the Roborock Q7 L5 is a great purchase.

Huge Upgrade to my trusty V1 Robot
We've had one of the first model robot vacuums from the og manufacturer which has been a workhorse for us for years! It's the drunk uncle of robots though, no bells and whistles, just your basic robot that runs into everything but gets the job done in some random chaotic pattern. Seeing this on sale and finally just going for it to see how good newer models have gotten (no more separate virtual wall lazers, a nice easy to use app, no more bumping around clumsily!, and more). Well, long story short, they have gotten soooo much better and I'm incredibly glad I gave this one a try. It's is running flawlessly, cleans very well, i love the ease of the app and setting up no-go zones, and pretty much everything else has been an upgrade. Looking forward to many years of our new bot and a cleaner, less noisy, less drunk uncle of a bot around the house. (Don't worry, drunk uncle is still getting his time in down in the basement. He's old reliable at this point and will go as long as he wants to.) This is a great vac that performs wonderfully with all the functions and conveniences I need (i haven't tried the mopping function yet but didn't really buy it for that) at an incredible price point, esp when on sale. If you're looking to upgrade like I did, it's well worth it. If you're looking at your first robot and are unsure if it's something you really need.... trust me, get it. It will save you time, knock one thing off your million item to-do list, and will soon become something you are unsure why it took so long to try.

Updated Review: error code and quit working after only 3 weeks.
Update! I absolutely loved this vacuum.....for about 3 weeks. I ran it every day. I loved loved loved the mapping feature that allowed me to select which rooms of my house I wanted it to clean. It did a pretty good job and I was so happy with it. I took good care of it and cleaned the filter and emptied it often. It was great ...until it didn't work anymore. Fan error: error 155 called for me to factory reset the vacuum which I did 3 times but it still wouldn't go more than about 30 seconds before stopping and giving me the internal error code again. After researching the code (because the website and help book on the app don't list this code in their troubleshooting guide) apparently this is a common thing for this particular model (the Q5 pro) to do. And most of the time it isn't fixable. We were still within the time frame to return it through Amazon so we decided to do that rather than contact customer service in hopes that they might fix it but not and then not be able to return it anymore. Sadly I won't be buying this brand again for a while. My previous vacuum (roomba) lasted me 5 years and still works, just has old technology. I was really hoping for another vacuum with newer technology like house mapping to last me a long time as well. I most likely will be returning to the Roomba brand. Which is sad because this seemed like a great vacuum with great features for a good price. I hope roborock improves their models and fixes these error issues and maybe one day I'll give them a try again. Maybe. Original review: I love this vacuum. I had another brand that was 5 year old technology and just caused more headache than help. This one is a huge improvement. I love how it initially mapped out my house and I was able to divide and name the rooms in the app. Now I can tell it to clean only certain rooms or the whole house and it does great and doing only the rooms I want it to do. I connected it to my Google speaker as well and now I can tell google to make my roborock clean my kitchen. I can also control it and monitor it from the app even when I'm not home. The mop feature isn't great. It really doesn't clean, more just puts water on the floor and leaves dirty streaks. But I didn't buy it for the mop function. If it does a great job vacuuming, which it does, I'm happy with it.
